

CND takes on central operational tasks in the area of Unix (Solaris) as well as in the support of Oracle/Sun hardware. This is complemented by certified know-how in the area of HP server platforms as well as other enterprise hardware. The long-standing collaboration with Sun Microsystems forms an important basis for the deep technical understanding.
As part of the mandates, CND provides up to 13 resident engineers who work directly on site in the customers' data centres. The supported infrastructure is distributed across several locations in the Zurich area. To meet the required response times, the teams are managed across locations.
A central part of the service is ensuring stable operation in everyday use. This includes asset management, hardware support, installations as well as analysis and repair work on productive systems. In addition, CND takes over the coordination of faults with manufacturers, the planning of deployments as well as the management of a 24x7 on-call service.
A further focus lies on the lifecycle management of the infrastructure. CND supports the renewal of systems across the entire lifecycle: installation of new hardware, controlled dismantling of existing components, updating of inventory data and a smooth transition during ongoing operation.
To support fast response times, CND operates its own spare parts warehouses at several locations. This allows hardware failures to be addressed efficiently and downtime minimised.
On behalf of Fujitsu, the CND team acts as the single point of contact for all relevant topics around HP as well as Oracle/Sun infrastructures. Besides handling incidents, this also includes the coordination and tracking of service deployments as well as ensuring compliance with defined service levels.
The supported infrastructures include, among other things, HP ProLiant and Blade systems, Oracle/Sun servers, Fujitsu systems as well as network components such as Cisco firewalls and switches.
