

CND was responsible not only for the infrastructure but also for the operation of the Solaris platform, the monitoring of the Oracle databases as well as 7x24 support for technical incidents. The goal was to provide a platform that functions reliably even under load and in critical situations.
The business importance of the solution was correspondingly high. M&EDoc is a central platform for technical maintenance documentation and supports processes that are decisive for the fast and efficient return to service of aircraft and engines. Availability and stability are directly business-critical in this environment.
The agreed service levels reflected these requirements. For M&EDoc, an annual target availability of 99.178 % was defined, complemented by clearly defined response and recovery times. Decisive, however, was not only meeting the SLA but the actual operational stability in everyday use.
A key part of the added value lay in the depth of the technical engagement. CND was responsible not only for infrastructure and OS/DB operations but was also involved in central operational processes, including manual load, bulletin loader, monitoring, check-print, balise, generator as well as Perl-based toolchains.
In doing so, CND took responsibility in a historically grown system landscape with high complexity and direct business relevance. The operation required not only technical know-how but a detailed understanding of the underlying processes.
The platform could be operated stably and in a controlled manner. Changes were implemented in a traceable way, risks reduced and the foundation created for reliable support of business-critical maintenance processes.
